OCD and Other Compulsive Disorders

Jocelyn combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with training in Mindfulness Meditation to enhance awareness of obsessions and compulsions in manual mode, reduce automatic reactivity & redirect attention. OCD like Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) often develops in the magical thinking of childhood as a way of feeling safe. The obsessive and compulsive behaviours become automatic. Clients are encouraged to step back, see OCD as a medical condition and not do what OCD appears to be demanding. OCD shrinks each time you stand up to it. Jocelyn has a particular interest in assisting clients to recover from Perfectionism which frequently presents as a stand-alone symptoms of OCD & perpetuates depression, GAD, eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, social anxiety disorder and performance anxiety.
